LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Former VMI right-hander Matt Eagle has signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Angels, according to information released by the organization recently.
"I am very excited for this chance, and I thank the Angels for the opportunity," said Eagle. "I am very thankful for the support of my family, friends and coaches, and for how they have believed in me since I started playing baseball."
Eagle signs after posting seven saves last season, and going 1-3 with a 5.22 ERA. He struck out 47 and walked only 10 in 39 2/3 innings, and limited opponents to just two home runs.
"Most of all, I thank God for the opportunities and abilities to chase my dreams," stated Eagle. "When Jesus died and rose again on the third day, the word impossible was removed from the world and I just want to prove that. Once again, thanks to everyone who has believed in me on this journey!"
