VMI Swimming and Diving Competes at UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. – The VMI men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were defeated Saturday at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC), 139-101 in men’s action and 158-118 in the women’s side.  

Jack Sheehan won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:13.20. Bridger Thurston took second in both the 1-meter (196.80) and 3-meter (165.30) diving events and Zach Emerson was second in the 100-backstroke in 54.86. Kai Green finished second in the 100-freestyle in 49.40 and took third place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.39. Conner Jorgensen swam a time of 4:19.32 to place second in the 400-IM.

Sarah MacDougall finished third in the women’s 100-freestyle in 58.00. Sophie Svoboda recorded times of 1:12.14 in the 100- breaststroke and 2:41.49 in the 200-breast.

Both teams return to Baltimore Dec. 6-7 for the Loyola Invitational.
