LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to bounce back from a loss to East Carolina at home this past weekend, the VMI women’s soccer team begins a three-game road swing starting Friday with a match at Loyola (Md.) in Baltimore, Maryland.
The first kick is set for a 7 p.m. start at Ridley Athletic Complex and will be broadcast on Stadium TV. The Keydets then face Howard Sunday at 1 p.m. in Washington D.C. before traveling to Davidson on Sept. 19.
VMI (1-4, 0-0) hung tough with East Carolina for a half, trailing just 1-0 at the break, before the Pirates took control in the second half and scored two insurance goals en route to a 3-0 victory.
VMI has four different goal scorers to this point of the season all coming from its 4-0 victory over Delaware State two weeks ago. Whitney Edwards-Roberson, Maggie Beckman, Kiley Cropper and Maria Vargas were credited with those goals.
Senior Julianne Knoblett leads the team with 10 shots on the year while sophomore Whitney Edwards-Roberson is second with nine for the season.
About the Greyhounds (1-4)
Loyola looks to end a four-game losing skid after opening the year with a 2-1 overtime victory over Seton Hall. Since that time the Greyhounds have suffered defeat to VCU, Quinnipiac, Yale and Marist and look to right the ship against VMI Saturday.
Hannah Hoefs leads the team with seven points on three goals and one assist for the year Sarah Bayer is second with three points (one goal, one assist). Clair Beath has also scored a goal this season for Loyola.
