VMI Finishes MAAC Weekend with Two Wins
LEXINGTON, Va. – Red-shirt freshman McKenna Imset scored 12 times Sunday to lead the VMI women’s water polo team to two victories to wrap-up its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekend. The Keydets hosted 13 conference matches in Clark King Pool Saturday and Sunday.
VMI 13, St. Francis (NY) 6
VMI led just 6-5 in the closing seconds of the third period, but outscored the visitors 7-1 to finish out the game.
McKenna Imset provided six goals and Sarah Dolitsky had three scores and an assist. Genevieve Petrassi posted two goals and two assists and Zoe Salafatinos and Makenna Moore each had a goal and an assist. Isabel French made 15 saves. Tate Renata paced St. Francis with two goals and an assist.
VMI 14, La Salle 13
Imset broke a 13-13 tie with 41 seconds left and the Keydets held on for the victory. She again found the back of the net six times, giving her 19 goals over the weekend in four games. Dolitsky had a hat trick, Salafatinos scored twice and Emma Perez had one goal and three assists. Emma Noble and Petrassi each had three assists and Moore also scored. Sarah Defuso scored six times for La Salle.
VMI (13-5/3-1 MAAC) travels to Staten Island, N.Y. March 23-24 for three MAAC matches.
