Men’s Soccer Heads to ETSU Tuesday
LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men’s soccer team continues Southern Conference play Tuesday, traveling to East Tennessee State University for a 7 p.m. game.

About the Keydets (1-9-1/0-1): VMI hung tough against Mercer Saturday, but ultimately fell 2-0 in the SoCon opener for both teams. Trevor Martineau got the visiting Bears ahead early, heading in a cross from Jake Mezei. The Keydets had a chance to tie the game with about 15 minutes left, but Willson Tuck’s shot from 35 yards out was just high of the crossbar. It remained a one-goal game until the closing minutes, when Jake Mezei added an insurance goal with less than eight minutes remaining.
VMI freshman keeper Broden Schull made nine stops on the afternoon. He has played just over 1,000 minutes this fall, making 77 saves. He leads NCAA Division I competition in total saves and saves per game (7.0).
About the Buccaneers (6-5/1-0): Cameron Woodfin scored the game-winning goal early in the second half to lift ETSU to a 2-1 win over Wofford in SoCon action Saturday. Danny Barlow had a goal earlier in the contest.
Barlow leads the squad with six goals and an assist on the season, while Woodfin has three goals and three assists. Bruno Andrade also has three scores this year.
Josh Perryman has played all 1,010 minutes in goal, allowing 1.51 goals per game with a 63.8 save percentage.
