Last Time Out - at VCU (12/22/2017):
VMI trimmed a 23-point deficit to eight late in the second half, but the VCU Rams prevailed, 75-65, in Friday night college basketball action before 7,637 fans at Siegel Center on December 22. The victory extended VCU’s win streak to three and moved the Rams to 8-5 while VMI had its two-game win streak snapped and fell to 5-6. Balanced scoring again carried the Keydets through the contest as all ten players who saw action scored. Sophomore guard Garrett Gilkeson led the team with 12 points – his second double digit scoring effort of the season. Freshman guard Bubba Parham and junior forward Austin Vereen each chipped in nine points.
Last Meeting with Furman (2/13/2017):
The SoCon-leading Furman Paladins raced out to a 31-9 lead and never looked back en route to an 80-52 win over the VMI Keydets in SoCon conference basketball action Monday night, Feb. 13 in Lexington, Va. Furman led wire to wire en route to winning its ninth consecutive game, all in SoCon play, and the Paladins did it by making their first four three-pointers and five of their first nine.
A VMI win against Furman would:
Snap a four-game skid against the Paladins and two-game slide in conference openers.
