Brandon Barbery's Career Stats

2018: Went 3-3 with a 7.04 ERA...start in conference tournament gave him 49 career starts, the second-most in school history...honored with SoCon Postgraduate Scholarship...earned a victory against a ranked Virginia team on Feb. 20, throwing five innings and allowing just one earned run...allowed two runs in seven innings of a midweek start against JMU April 4...beat VCU with eight innings of six-hit baseball on April 11..struck out five in seven innings of two-run baseball at Richmond April 18...moved into weekend rotation late in the year...picked up the win on a pitch count May 19 at Samford, allowing one earned run in 4 1/3 innings. 

2017: Finished the year 0-9 with a 6.84 ERA...pitched 3 1/3 innings in the conference tournament with a lower body injury and held Wofford to two runs, helping VMI pull out a win...threw the first CG of his career 5/13 at Furman...pitched his best game of the season 5/6, a one-run, six-hit, seven-inning effort against UNCG (no decision)...from 3/26-4/9, posted a strong 2.61 ERA despite going winless...allowed just one earned run in 7 1/3 innings at The Citadel 3/26, but took the loss...victimized by defensive misfortune and took the loss 3/19 at Elon with a deceptive 5 ER allowed.

2016: Had an up and down sophomore season that included a 3-7 record and a 6.23 ERA...spun his first quality start since March 26 in May 15 loss to Furman (6 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO)...had season-high in strikeouts in that game...threw two shutout innings 5/11 against Radford...pitched 5 2/3 strong innings against ETSU in relief 5/1, allowing two runs...saw his ERA rise from 4.24 to 7.16 during a very difficult month of April, during which he briefly lost his spot in the weekend rotation...pitched a shutout inning of relief in March 30 loss to Longwood...turned in one of VMI's best SP performances of the year with eight shutout innings 3/26 vs. The Citadel...evened his record at 2-2 with win over Rider 3-20...made his first career relief appearance 3-16 against Mason, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings...earned his first win of the season with six innings of two-run ball March 12 against UMES, also posted a then season-high five K's...pitched 5 1/3 innings against Lafayette 2/27, allowing two runs in a no-decision...was first left-hander to start opening day for the Keydets since 2009...went on to play summer ball in the Texas Collegiate League. 

2015: Southern Conference All-Freshman Team member...finished the year 5-3 with an ERA of 5.98, an ERA that was under 5.00 until his final start of the season...won his collegiate debut with six shutout innings at North Florida 2/15...beat Wofford for VMI's first SoCon victory since rejoining the league on 3/22...struck out a career-high 10 against Samford on 3/28 for VMI's lone win of that series...beat The Citadel on 4/26 to complete a series sweep...was hit hard over the final month of the season, as he saw his ERA rise two full runs over his last four starts.

High School/Personal: Lettered at CD Hylton HS...helped lead the Bulldogs to regional title 2013 and district/conference titles 2013 and 2014...finished his senior year with 6-1 record, 2.50 ERA 70 K's in 47 innings, earning 6A All-Conference 4 selection...played travel baseball for the DeMarini Stars...named 2014 Perfect Game All-Atlantic Region honorable mention...First Team 2013 WWBA All-Tournament Team...four-year National Honor Society member and academic letterwinner...graduated Summa Cum Laude...also lettered three years in swimming, where he was the team captain his junior year...father played football at Concord...intends to major in biology at the Institute.
