After a break of some 12 days, VMI baseball returns to action Friday by opening a three-game series against the Campbell Camels at Gray-Minor Stadium. Game time for the opener is set for 7 p.m., with 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. games to follow on Saturday and Sunday.
How to Follow
Fans can follow all three games via live stats, while both Saturday and Sunday will feature Big South Network video free of charge. Audio broadcasts can also be heard on 1450 AM WREL in the Lexington area and VMIKeydets.com for both of the last two contests.
Probable Starting Pitchers
Friday: CU RHP Heath Bowers (7-2, 3.01 ERA) vs. VMI RHP Reed Garrett (5-5, 1.91)
Saturday: CU LHP Hector Cedano (6-0, 2.29) vs. VMI LHP Connor Bach (2-6, 4.45)
Sunday: CU RHP Ryan Koopman (7-1, 1.91) vs. VMI RHP Andrew Woods (5-2, 2.82)
Due to April 30's rainout against VCU, it has been 12 days since the Keydets played at Winthrop the final weekend of April. That is the longest break between games for VMI since May 2-14, 2010.
This is just the second visit the Camels have made to Gray-Minor Stadium - VMI took 2 of 3 from CU in April of 2012, with all three games decided by two runs or less.
Right-hander Reed Garrett, VMI's Friday starter, has gotten on quite the roll over his last two starts. Garrett has allowed just two earned runs over 17 1/3 innings during that time.
Junior Thomas Stallings enters this series on a modest three-game hitting streak.
