BLACKSBURG, Va. - VMI's Rob Dickinson was named to the Second Team University Division All-State baseball squad, which was chosen by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) and announced Thursday. It was the first time in Dickinson's four-year career that he had earned all-state laurels.
The 2013 Big South Player of the Year, Dickinson finished his career with a .399 season, the sixth-highest mark in VMI baseball history. He wrapped his career with the fourth-most hits (240), fifth-most doubles (47, tied) and fifth-most total bases (364) in career program history, and also ranked in VMI's career top 10 in games played (tied for first), at-bats (ninth), RBI (tied for 10th) and batting average (sixth, .334). This past year, he led the Big South in hitting, total bases, hits per game and slugging percentage, and was among the leaders in on-base percentage and home runs as well. He also chipped in a career high 15 steals in 20 tries.
Dickinson was one of four Big South players on the Second Team, and one of five players from the League honored overall. The complete VaSID team is accessible at the left of this article.
