LEXINGTON, Va. - Sarah Putney, entering her third season with VMI women's soccer, has been named the team captain for the 2013 season, according to information released by the program Tuesday.
"Sarah did a great job in her role last year," said VMI head coach Bryan Williams. "She was in a role as the outside back, a position that was not very familiar to her, and played very well in limiting the top forwards from other teams. She has stepped into the captain role very well this spring, and we look for her to continue to excel in this responsibility."
VMI women's soccer will open the 2013 season August 11, taking on George Washington in a road exhibition match.
