VMI baseball wraps up the 2013 season beginning Thursday, when the Keydets open a Big South series with the High Point Panthers at Gray-Minor Stadium. Game times are set for 6, 6 and 2 p.m.
Friday’s game will be shown on ESPN3.com, a first for a VMI baseball home game during the regular season. It is the first regular season visit by an ESPN affiliate to Gray-Minor Stadium since the facility opened in 2007, and only the second visit ever, as ESPN3 also showed the 2011 Big South Championship game at the facility (Coastal Carolina vs. Gardner-Webb).
Reed Garrett will pitch Friday, fresh off being named the Big South Pitcher of the Week for his three-hit complete game shutout of Winthrop. It was the first career conference honor for the sophomore, who had not previously pitched a complete game.
Saturday’s game, meanwhile, will mark Senior Day for the players competing in their final collegiate game - A group that includes Rob Dickinson, who will be wrapping his bid to become just the fifth Keydet ever to hit .400 in a full season.
