The Keydets are looking to preserve their hopes of making the Big South Championship tournament, and will be watching the teams directly above them in the standings - Gardner-Webb and Charleston Southern. The Keydets must pass both in order to make the tournament, and must make up an extra game on CSU as the Bucs own the tiebreaker (2-1 head to head advantage).
Rob Dickinson is six games away from VMI’s first .400 season since 1986 - the Big South has had at least one player hit .400 every year since the 2005 season, but Dickinson appears to be the league’s only hope this year. It, in fact, was the Winthrop series last season (April 6-7) that started Dickinson’s current run - Since that time, he is hitting 114 for 284, a .408 clip that includes just under half of his career hits (237).
