Quick Hitters

Tuesday will mark the second meeting of the year between VMI and Tech, after T.J. Lighton’s complete-game shutout March 26 in Blacksburg that was VMI’s first blanking of Tech since 1962. That was also the last year the Keydets swept the season series between the clubs.

Taylor Edens will make his first career start against the Hokies Tuesday. Edens becomes the third Keydet pitcher this season to make his initial career start, joining two other first-year players in Lighton and Lucas Cash.

Rob Dickinson enters these two games with a 14-game hitting streak in progress. He has also reached base in 25 consecutive contests, and continues to lead the Big South in numerous categories (see page two). Dickinson is bidding to become the first VMI player since Greg Weddle in 1986 to hit over .400 for a season, and with 12 games remaining, currently sits at .410.
