LEXINGTON, Va. - VMI right-hander T.J. Lighton has been named the Perfect Game Player of the Day, according to information released by that organization Wednesday.
Lighton earned the honor after firing a complete game, 8-0 shutout Tuesday evening against Virginia Tech, scattering six hits, issuing no walks and pitching the first VMI shutout against the Hokies since 1962. It was also the first VMI complete game shutout by any pitcher since 2006.
Keydet baseball returns to action Friday, opening a Big South series with Coastal Carolina at Gray-Minor Stadium. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
