ATHENS, Ga.  - Connor McMahon set a new school record in the 100-yard freestyle, as the VMI Keydet men's swimming and diving squad wrapped up competition at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championships, held Saturday in Athens, Ga. The Keydets finished in fourth place in the final team standings in a meet that saw Davidson edge College of Charleston for the team title.

McMahon, who had set both the 50 and 100 free freshman records last season, zipped through the water in 47.14 seconds to easily win the B final, and finish ninth overall in Saturday's proceedings. It was the second school record he had been involved in at this meet, following his swimming of the anchor leg in Friday's 200 medley relay effort that also accomplished that feat.

McMahon was joined in the B final by Clarke Ruska, who finished 16th overall in 49.69. That was not the only B final that had multiple Keydets Saturday, as the 1650 free final saw both Sean Moore and Jeff Whiteman competing. Whiteman finished 12th overall in 17:28.96, while Moore bested him by one position, placing 11th in 17:20.53.

Elsewhere, Christian Shaner followed up his 200 and 500 free races, where he scored points in the B finals, by doing the same in the 200 fly Saturday evening. Shaner clocked in at 1:58.45 to finish 10th overall and second in the B final. Finally, Jeremy Senn finished 12th in the 200 back, touching the wall in 1:56.41.
