LEXINGTON, Va. -- It has been nearly one calendar year since fans of the Virginia Military Institute wrestling team have seen their squad compete in the friendly confines of Cocke Hall, dating back to mid February, 2012.

But all that will change this Saturday night as the Keydets play host to Atlantic Coast Conference foe Duke University. Action is set for 7:30 p.m. in The Thunderdome. Fans unable to make the trip to Lexington can follow the action through a live statistical link.

Saturday’s clash will be the 16th time the Blue Devils and Keydets have met in a dual match situation. All-time since 1978-79 when VMI began offering wrestling scholarships, the Keydets are 10-5 versus Duke, including a win in the last meeting.

This will be the first time the two teams have met for a dual since 2009-10 when the Keydets claimed a 21-18 victory in Durham, N.C. The only Keydet still on the team who wrestled that match is Conor Black, who pinned Spencer Jasper in 4:02 at 165 pounds as a freshman that season.

So far in 2012-13, VMI wrestlers have tangled with the Blue Devils on six occasions during various tournaments. Mark Darr, a rookie at 165 pounds, is the only Keydet to claim victory, besting Duke’s Michael Wright 8-1 at the Wolfpack Open in November.
