Saturday evening's game saw the Keydets' top three scorers - Stan Okoye, D.J. Covington and Rodney Glasgow - combine for 74 of their team's 86 points as VMI opened conference play with a 86-77 win over Presbyterian. Okoye led the squad with a career-high 39 points, an effort that was tied for the 10th-highest scoring game in VMI history, and he and Glasgow teamed up to score the team's final 20 points in the victory. Okoye earned Big South Player of the Week honors, his second-such accolade this season, for his efforts.
Last Meeting with Liberty (2/14/2012):
Stan Okoye returned from injury to post 21 points and 12 rebounds, but a second half rally by VMI fell short in the waning moments as the Liberty Flames defeated the Keydets, 78-69, in Big South basketball action Feb. 14, 2012 in Lynchburg, Va.
A VMI win against Liberty would:
Be VMI's third straight victory.
Move VMI to 2-0 in conference action for the first time since 2008-09, when the Keydets started Big South play 6-0.
Be the Keydets' third straight win over the Flames at Cameron Hall.
Knot the all-time series between the teams at 14 wins apiece.
Give VMI a 5-1 record this season at Cameron Hall.
