VMI women's soccer returns to action Thursday evening at 6 p.m., facing the Winthrop Eagles in Rock Hill, S.C., before facing the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs in Boiling Springs, N.C. on Sunday afternoon. That contest will get underway at 1 p.m. Thursday's contest can be followed via the Big South Network, while both games will have live stats available.
VMI enters after a tough 1-0 loss to Coastal Carolina this past Saturday, when VMI held off a 30-shot Coastal Carolina attack and limited the Chanticleers to just a single goal. The Keydets held a 4-3 edge in corners in the match as well, while freshman goalie Mackenzie Harrmann had 11 saves and the defense in front of her was able to limit Coastal's quality shots.
Winthrop will enter Thursday's match at 6-6-1 overall, but on a two-match losing streak following losses to Liberty and Longwood. The Eagles have scored 22 goals this year, but just one total over the last two contests. They do, however, possess one of the top offensive players in the conference in forward Krystyna Freda, who has seven goals on the year.
Gardner-Webb, meanwhile, has struggled this season, playing to a 2-10-1 record prior to the Runnin' Bulldogs' match with Radford on Thursday. In league play, GWU has defeated Coastal Carolina and tied Liberty thus far.
Following the two-match road trip, VMI comes home Oct. 18 for its Senior Day, taking on Liberty at 4 p.m.
