VMI women's soccer returns to the pitch Saturday, playing host to Coastal Carolina at Patchin Field. Game time is set for 11 a.m. and fans can follow along via live stats.
VMI will be seeking its first win of the Big South season after an improved offensive effort over the course of the past three matches. After two goals from Courtney Mason Sept. 27 at UNC Asheville and another from Meredith Baldasare two days later against Presbyterian, VMI controlled several offensive categories Thursday against Charleston Southern, but came out on the short end of a 4-0 match. The Keydets outshot CSU 12-10 and also forced CSU keeper Caitlin Cody to make eight saves on the day.
Coastal Carolina enters at 5-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play, and strangely, has been involved in four straight shutouts. The Chanticleers were blanked by Gardner-Webb, shut out Liberty and Longwood, and then were blanked once again, this time by league-leading Radford Thursday night.
The match will be the second-to-last home match this season for women's soccer, as the Keydets close the regular season with four of their last five games on the road.
Following this match, VMI will resume play Oct. 11, facing Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
