LEXINGTON, Va. - VMI senior forward Reggie Williams wrapped up a successful Portsmouth Invitational Tournament by being named to the All-Tournament team and receiving the Tommy Fennell Award for Sportsmanship.

Williams averaged 16.3 points per game over the three-game tournament including a game-high 22 points in both the first round and championship games. His team, Portsmouth Sports Club, fell 103-83 to Tidewater Sealants in the title game.

Williams, who will graduate from VMI in May with a Psychology degree, shot 56% (20-36) from the floor for the tourney and tossed in 8 of 13 (61.5%) 3-point tries. He also averaged 4.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists for the tournament.

This year’s tournament was the 56th annual P.I.T. and the event is recognized by NBA and European scouts as the premier showcase for future professional players. The P.I.T. is the only tournament for college seniors to participate and be evaluated by the National Basketball Association prior to the NBA’s pre-draft camp in Orlando.

Williams in 2007-08 became the all-time leading scorer in VMI, Big South Conference, and State Division I history with 2,556 points and received several post-season accolades including first team All-Big South, first team All-State (Richmond Times-Dispatch and VASID), and second team All-America mid-major. Williams was also named to the National Association Basketball Coach District 4 first team.

Williams averaged 27.8 points in 2007-08 and led NCAA Division I in scoring for the second straight season. He became only the ninth player in NCAA history to lead the nation in multiple years.
