Michael Pruchnicki enters his first season as an assistant athletic academic advisor in the VMI Cadet-Athlete Development Center.
He comes to the Institute after working two internships at Loyola University Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. During the summers of 2017 and 2018, Pruchnicki served as a compliance intern completing GIA forms, certification spreadsheets and other reports while learning JumpForward software.
During winter break 2017-18, the Wilmette, Illinois, native served as an intern in event operations and marketing helping with in-game promotions and gameday operations at men’s and women’s basketball and men’s volleyball games. He also found participants from the crowd for in-game promotions and worked with gameday staff to fulfill other responsibilities.
A former multi-sport student-athlete, Pruchnicki played tight end on the football team at Oberlin College (Oberlin, Ohio) where he lettered from 2015-18. His senior year in 2018 he was named the team’s most improved player and received the Joe Gurtis Memorial Award for being the best teammate on the squad. Pruchnicki also played lacrosse as a defenseman at Oberlin from 2016-19.
Outside of athletics he served as the Communications and PR officer for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Oberlin.
He graduated from Oberlin College with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in political science and history in May 2019.
