Sean Doyle enters his second season as the defensive coordinator for the VMI lacrosse program after being named to the position in September of 2018.
In his first season with the Keydets in 2019, he coached two-time All-Southern Conference first team defender Kyle Walsh to lead the nation throughout the regular season in caused turnovers per game as Walsh earned 42 caused turnovers over 13 games for a 3.23 average.
Doyle came to VMI after playing four years at Robert Morris University. While at RMU, Doyle was a four-year starter at the defensive midfield position. Name a team captain as a senior, he helped lead the Colonials to a record of 13-5 and an NEC championship for the first time in program history. They went on to obtain their first ever NCAA tournament win before falling short to No. 1 Maryland, 14-11, in the second round.
During Doyle’s senior campaign, RMU’s defense was ranked fourth in the country (8.0 goals-against average) while achieving the most wins in program history (13). Sean finished his collegiate career being selected to play in the USILA North-South Senior All-Star game.
While a student-athlete, Doyle achieved the North East Conference’s Commissioner’s honor roll, was a four-year Dean’s list recipient and a board member of RMU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Doyle hails from Huntingtown, Maryland, and is a 2014 graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Robert Morris in May of 2018.
