WASHINGTON, D.C. -  After splitting the opening day of the George Washington Invitational yesterday, the VMI water polo team snagged two wins Saturday to conclude the tournament at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, D.C.

The Keydets outlasted Gannon by a 12- 9 score in the 1 p.m. match before claiming a 14-10 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) in the evening match.

Against Gannon, VMI was led by four goals from senior Cecilya Lundy and three apiece from Bailey Huddleston and Shelby Barkley. Haley Scott and Sarah Dolitsky contributed the other goals for the Keydets.

Freshman goalie Isabel French was credited with the win having registered five saves in 24 minutes while junior Catie Berry logged three saves in eight minutes.

Also facing Saint Francis for a second time this season, the Keydets were again paced by Lundy's four goals with Barkley pitching in three and freshman Emma Noble contributing two. Sophia DelBondio, Huddleston, Natalie Rivas, Madison Curran and Dolitsky also scored goals in the match.

In 30 minutes of competition, French was given the win with 10 saves before she was replaced by Berry for the final two minutes.

During this week's Spring Furlough, the Keydets will take their annual trip to California and will play five matches over four days. VMI opens the trip Monday with a 7 p.m. EST match against Chapman in Orange, California.
