Hohman Named SoCon Wrestler of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI junior 165-pounder Blake Hohman has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Jan. 3-9, the league office announced Wednesday.

Hohman, a native of New Kent, Virginia, went 4-1 at the Franklin and Marshall Open over the weekend to place third in his weight class. He began the Open with a pair of pin falls before scoring a 7-3 decision over Maryland’s Idris White. After falling to Brown’s Bryce Rogers, Hohman ended the day with a 6-3 decision over Phillip Spadaform of Maryland to qualify to stand on the third-place podium in the post-tournament ceremony.

Hohman, who scored the first two pins of the season on Saturday, leads VMI in overall wins this season with nine. He now has three career pins in a VMI singlet.
