RALEIGH, N.C. – Looking to improve on times and marks for individual performances, the VMI track and field teams had great performances to wrap up competition at the 2019 Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina.
“I am very pleased with the overall results of the weekend,” said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. “McKenna Dunn in the pole vault moves to third on the SoCon list, along with strong performances in multiple relays we ran today. We had outstanding splits in the in the 4x200, and the 4x800. I look for those individuals to really have a great weekend in some individual events next weekend at the Colonial Relays In Williamsburg.”
Dunn reached a height of 3.50 meters in the women's pole vault for 20th place in the event.
In the women's 4x1500, junior Logan Luckett ran a split of 4:51 for an impressive performance while teammate Anna Armfield ran a 4:58 split in the same relay.
The women's sprinters also had a solid showing in the 4x200 as Eliza Brooks, Ingrid Joseph, Ariana Ruffin and Ahliyah Williams all earned 24.5-25.1 splits for the event.
Jordin Poindexter ran a 21.6 split in the men's 4x200, while Jonathan Gray, James Granderson and Caleb Minus all ran between 22.4-22.9 seconds for an eighth-place finish.
In the men's 4x800, Adam Waite ran a 1:56, Jahanzib Shahbaz in 1:52, Zach Lauster in 1:57, and Andre Jordan finished it off in 1:58 for a 13th-place finish for the squad.
The Keydets return to action next weekend, April 4-6, at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia.
