VMI basketball is back in action Friday night in Richmond, when the Keydets take on the VCU Rams. Game time is set for 7 p.m., and the game can be seen live in the Richmond area on CBS 6, as well as on the Atlantic 10 Network at www.atlantic10.com. In addition, an audio broadcast will be available on 96.7 3WZ in the Lexington area, www.streamthe.net (search WWZW) and via the Tune-In app, with associated feed on VMIKeydets.com, and live stats can be accessed as well.
Last Time Out - vs. Southern Wesleyan (12/14/2017):
A 24-7 run broke open the game early and sent the VMI Keydets past the Southern Wesleyan Warriors, 90-52, in NCAA basketball action December 14 in Lexington, Va.
Every player on VMI's roster scored, including true freshman Tragen Fahl and Ta'Vonne Bond, who had not scored thus far in 2017-18. Jordan Ratliffe led VMI with 13 points as the Keydet bench scored 51 of VMI's 90 markers, and outscored SWU 51-14 in terms of bench scoring. The Keydets also had a 24-6 edge in points off turnovers.
Last Meeting with VCU (12/8/2010):
VMI chopped a 13-point VCU lead to one, 76-75, with 4:26 left, but the Rams went on to score the next six points and hold on for the win, 86-80, in non-conference basketball action December 8, 2010 in Richmond, Va. VMI was led in scoring by senior guard Austin Kenon and junior guard Keith Gabriel who each tallied 17 points while freshman forward D.J. Covington hit five-of-six shots from the floor and scored 12 points while grabbing nine rebounds and blocking four shots.
