Men's Soccer Draws Furman for SoCon Tourney

LEXINGTON, Va. – With the regular season complete, the VMI men’s soccer team looks to make a run at the conference tournament as the No. 6 seed Keydets travel to No. 3 Furman this Saturday, Nov. 4, for the quarterfinal round. Kickoff is slated for a 5 p.m. start at Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Keydets (0-15-2, 0-10) finished the regular season Saturday with a Senior Day loss at the hands of Mercer by a 7-0 tally at Patchin Field. The Paladins topped UNCG at home Sunday in overtime, 1-0, in a game that was rescheduled due to poor weather conditions Saturday night.

This season the Keydets opened conference play at Furman on Sept. 26 with a 4-0 loss and most recently faced the Paladins at home on Oct. 14, a 5-0 loss at Patchin Field.

No. 5 seed Wofford will take on No. 4 seed Mercer Saturday in Macon, Georgia. No. 1 seed ETSU and and No. 2 seed UNCG earned quarterfinal round byes. On Friday, Nov. 10, ETSU will take on the Wofford-Mercer winner while UNCG will face the VMI-Furman winner in Greenville, South Carolina.

The SoCon title game is slated for Sunday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. in Greenville.
