VMI cross country will compete at the SoCon Championships Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, S.C. The women's 5K will start the event, and the men's 8K is scheduled to follow at 10:45 a.m.

How to Follow

Fans can follow along with the action via live results, accessible on the link to the left of this article.

Jahanzib Shahbaz is two races away from joining an exclusive club. Only three runners since 2008 - Jay Broom (2016), Noah Hagos (2011) and Cabell Willis (2012) - have served as VMI's #1 or #2 runner in every Keydet race during a season. Shahbaz has accomplished that feat so far this season.

Uncharacteristically, the Keydets have had limited encounters with SoCon teams so far this season. The men's team bested Wofford at the High Point meet two weeks ago, a meet that Furman and ETSU went 1-2 at, while the women's team finished just behind those three programs at HPU and also was bested by ETSU at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite.

Next Time Out

The Keydets will take part in the NCAA SE Regional Championships Nov. 10 in Earlysville, Va.
