The VMI cross country teams return to action Friday, when the Keydets take part in the VertCross Invite in Kernersville, N.C. Action gets underway with the women's 6K at 4 p.m., while the men's 8K follows at 4:45.
How to Follow
There will be no live results for the meet.
Last Time Out
Jahanzib Shahbaz finished 18th overall, helping the VMI men's cross country team finish sixth at the Mason Invitational Sept. 30. On the women's side, Logan Luckett finished 19th and led VMI for the first time this season.
The Keydets are familiar with the course at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex, having competed on the surface twice in the previous three seasons. VMI took part in this meet, the VertCross Invite, just last season, while the 2014 SoCon Championships were hosted by UNCG at this facility as well.
Jahanzib Shahbaz will be looking to serve as VMI's #1 runner for the fourth straight race. Jay Broom accomplished that for the Keydets last season, but prior to that, it had not been done since one of the great distance runners in VMI history - Donnie Cowart - did it in 2006.
Next Time Out
This will be VMI's final tuneup before the 2017 SoCon Championships, which will take place Oct. 28 in Spartanburg, S.C.
