GREENVILLE, S.C. – Gearing up for its final road trip of the season, the VMI lacrosse team heads to Furman University for a Saturday afternoon matchup set for 12 p.m. at Paladin Stadium in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Keydets are led by junior Wesley Sanders, who has 17 goals this season to go with a league-high 91 shot attempts. Freshman John Daniel has played a critical role in the offense this season as he leads the team with 32 points on 13 goals and 19 assists. Brad Nardella is second on the team with 15 goals while fellow senior Chris Spada has contributed 14 goals this season.

Defensively, the Keydets continue to be strong in man-down scenarios as VMI is ranked No. 10 in the country by holding opponents scoreless 74 percent of the time when the opponent has an extra man. Sophomore defender Kyle Walsh is ranked No. 13 in the nation in caused turnovers as he forces 1.75 turnovers per game on average.

About the Paladins (6-6, 5-0)
The Paladins are coming off a win at High Point on Saturday, pushing their winning streak to five and guaranteeing a spot in the 2017 SoCon tournament.

The 6-6 record for Furman is misleading as the Paladins have played a very difficult schedule with losses coming to Vermont, Ohio State, North Carolina, Sacred Heart, Michigan and Penn State. Since starting league play on March 18, the Paladins are 5-0 and appear to be headed to a showdown with league leader No. 14 Richmond next weekend in Richmond.

Lou Yovino and David Williamson lead the team with 23 goals apiece.

Furman’s Senior Day ceremony is set to begin 15 minutes before faceoff.
