Kyle Staats' Career Stats

2018: Went 4-4 with a 7.26 ERA in 16 games (10 starts)...served as part of the weekend rotation for much of the year...became the first VMI left-hander, other than Brandon Barbery, to win at least three games in a season since 2011...did not allow an earned run in six innings against UMass Lowell March 10 in VMI's shortest game (by time) of the season...beat Western Carolina April 14 for his fourth win of the year.

2017: Finished the year 2-0 with a 5.94 ERA...turned in the best outing of his career 5/20 against ETSU, with six innings of two-hit baseball in his first weekend start...then turned around and started again against ETSU in the tournament, throwing 3 1/3, three run innings less than 72 hours after going 3 2/3 frames in relief...allowed two runs in four innings 5/16 vs. JMU in his first career start, picked up the win...pitched two perfect innings in relief 5/2 against VCU...pitched a then career-high three innings 3/14 at Old Dominion and equaled that 4/5 against ODU...equaled his second-longest collegiate outing (at the time) with 1 2/3 innings against Quinnipiac 3/12...hurled a shutout inning with two strikeouts in series finale vs. Bucknell...pitched in three of the season's first five games, one of two Keydets to do so (Tremblay).

2016: Finished the year with no record and a 7.97 ERA in 26 appearances...appeared in all three games of Samford series, pitched 2 1/3 hitless innings...equaled his season-high by pitching two innings April 12 vs. JMU...retired four of the five hitters he faced 3/27 vs. The Citadel...pitched a shutout inning in 3/23 loss to ODU...pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts in 2/23 loss at #4 UVA. 

2015: True freshman who became a valuable piece of the bullpen...pitched in 25 games and went 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA...did not allow an earned run over his first nine outings...took the loss at Virginia Tech 3/31 after giving up an unearned run in the the win 4/1 at #12 UVA, becoming the first VMI pitcher since April '09 to get opposite decisions in back to back games...pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in 4/7 loss to Radford...threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in ETSU series...pitched a shutout inning 4/21 against William & Mary...missed last three weeks of season due to injury.

High School/Personal: Four-year letterwinner at Forest Park HS...First Team all-district, honorable mention all-region and all-metro during the 2013 season...struck out 65 in 52 innings...played on the two-time district champion team...also played for the Demarini Stars and the 16U (top 32, East Cobb, Ga.) and 17U (top eight, Fort Myers, Fla.) NVTBL Stars ...intends to major in psychology.
