VMI basketball returns to Cameron Hall for its fourth home game of the season Wednesday, facing the Eagles of Bridgewater College at 7 p.m. The game can be heard on 96.7 3WZ in the Lexington area, with accompanying feed at WREL.com, and also can be accessed through VMIKeydets.com. A video stream of the game will also be available free of charge through the Big South Network at www.bigsouthsports.com, as will live stats.
Last Time Out (at Virginia Tech - 11/18/2013):
The VMI Keydets cut a 20-point deficit to six with just over a minute to play, but the Virginia Tech Hokies scored the final seven points of the game and hung on for a 105-92 victory in men's basketball action Monday night at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va. VMI put three players over the 20-point mark, led by Rodney Glasgow and Peterson with 22 apiece. D.J. Covington added 20 markers, and freshman Craig Hinton had a career-best 13 markers.
Last Meeting With Bridgewater (1/18/2007):
Future all-time leading Big South scorer Reggie Williams went off for 37 points and 10 assists in just 29 minutes, but that was not the story in VMI’s 125-95 win over Bridgewater on Jan. 18, 2007. VMI twins Chavis and Travis Holmes combined for 20 steals, with Travis Holmes recording a school record 11. That was just two off the NCAA single-game steals record, accomplished twice by future Atlanta Hawks’ point guard Mookie Blaylock. Bridgewater put six players in double figures, but could not overcome Williams and the defense of the Holmes twins as the Eagles had 40 turnovers in the game.
A VMI win against Bridgewater Would:
Move VMI to 4-0 at home for the third time in four years.
Increase the VMI record against non-D1 foes under Duggar Baucom to 31-0.
