Perkins and Magill Set School Records in Loss

LEXINGTON, Va. – Freshmen MacKenzie Perkins and Heather Magill set program records Friday, as the VMI women's swimming and diving team faced off with the Limestone Saints at VMI's Clark King Pool. Limestone claimed the victory, 181-56.

With the setback, VMI wraps up its regular season with a 1-13 record, despite setting 20 marks that now stand as program or freshman records during the year. Perkins got the first of the two newest marks on Friday, winning a close battle in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:14.98. She then came back later in the meet to record a 25.92 effort in the 50 free, finishing third.

Magill won both the 1 and 3-meter diving events, competing unopposed, but her 3-meter performance was particularly notable. There, she scored 264.75 points, besting her own school record set earlier this season. The mark is also the fourth-best mark in the CCSA this season.

In addition, Celine Lazzaro finished third in the 100 free, recording a 1:00.48 effort.

VMI women's swimming and diving will return to action Feb. 16, taking part in the opening day of the CCSA Championships in Athens, Ga.
