The two-game VMI Basketball home stand for the February 2nd and February 4th games at Cameron Hall will feature several high-profile promotions as the Keydets take on two top-division Big South Conference foes in UNC Asheville and Winthrop.
The University of Virginia Dance Team will perform at halftime of the Virginia Military Institute's home basketball game on Thursday, February 2nd at 7 p.m. The professionally choreographed dance troupe is comprised of 14 dancers with backgrounds in jazz, hip-hop, cheerleading and gymnastics. The team cheers and dances along the sidelines of all UVa home football games and performs halftime routines at home men's basketball games in John Paul Jones Arena as well as making appearances statewide.
The Keydets that night will be playing host to the Big South Conference defending champion and current league-leading UNC Asheville. Members of the Chamber of Commerce will be guests of VMI at the game as part of its monthly Business-After-Hours event.
At halftime of Saturday afternoon's game, VMI will pay special tribute to its basketball alumni and members of the Keydet Basketball Hall of Fame when the Keydets take on Winthrop University at 1 p.m. in a key game that could help determine seeding for the Big South Conference tournament.
Students, faculty, and staff at Lexington and Rockbridge Co. elementary and middle schools have been invited to attend Saturday's game free of charge as part of The Virginia Lottery Super Teacher Awards program. Each year eight Virginia public school teachers are recognized with a $2,000 credit from the Supply Room Companies to outfit their classrooms as well as a $2,000 prize from the Virginia Lottery, a corporate sponsor of VMI athletics.
