Jacob Rochester Named to CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team

LEXINGTON, Va.- For the third consecutive season, VMI linebacker Jacob Rochester has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 3 First Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Rochester, a senior from Dallas, Texas, currently carries a 3.93 GPA as an economics and business major. The senior was named to the Academic All-District 3 squad each of the last two seasons as well. In addition, Rochester has been named to the FCS Academic All-Star squad two years running, is a three-time member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll and has twice been named to the Conference's All-Academic team.

On the field, the Lone Star State native is a key contributor, having started every 2008 contest for the Keydets. He currently ranks third on the VMI squad in total tackles with 24, and his tackles-for-loss number of 5.5 also places him third on the team. Rochester had a season-high seven tackles and an interception against Coastal Carolina on Oct. 11, and posted three tackles-for-loss and two sacks against Saint Francis in VMI's season opener.

Rochester and his VMI football teammates will return to action Saturday, as they host Liberty in a Big South Conference matchup at Foster Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
