Basketball to Face CSU, Coastal

VMI basketball is back in action Thursday, taking on Charleston Southern in a Big South game at Cameron Hall. Tip time is set for 7 p.m., and after that contest, VMI welcomes Coastal Carolina to Cameron Hall for the Keydet senior day, Saturday at 1 p.m. Live stats, Big South video and audio broadcasts (WREL.com/VMIKeydets.com) will be available for both games.

Sophomores D.J. Covington and Rodney Glasgow resumed practice with the team this week after serving suspensions for a violation of team rules. The pair had not seen action since Jan. 26 when VMI faced Radford at the Dedmon Center in Radford, Va. Their availability for Thursday night's game against Charleston Southern will be game-time decisions.

The Charleston Southern Buccaneers broke open a six-point game with a 19-6 run to start the second half and went on to beat the VMI Keydets, 114-81, in Big South men's basketball action at CSU Field House in North Charleston, S.C.
   
Last Meeting with Coastal Carolina (12/1/2011)
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers had a 50-29 rebounding advantage and saw Sam McLaurin post 19 points and 15 rebounds, en route to an 87-78 win over the VMI Keydets in Conway, S.C. The game was the Big South opener for both schools. VMI junior Stan Okoye had a game-high 25 points, but Coastal (6-1, 1-0 BSC), led by McLaurin's efforts, held a 16-4 edge in second chance points and a 54-28 advantage in points in the paint.

A Win over Charleston Southern Would:
Break VMI's four-game losing streak against the Bucs.

A Win over Coastal Carolina Would:
Mark VMI's first regular-season win over Coastal Carolina since Jan. 10, 2009.

A VMI Sweep of the Two Games Would:
Allow VMI to tie the all-time Keydet record for home wins in a season (13).
