How to Follow VMI Football This Season

With the VMI football season set to begin Saturday against Delaware State, here is information on how fans can follow the program throughout the 2011 season.

Online Video Streaming: All Big South games, with the exception of the Oct. 8 and Oct. 15 games, will be available on the Big South Network for a small fee or a season subscription. Fans can sign up for season packages, as well as use the option to view a single game. All non-conference home games will also be available via the Big South Network, while non-conference away games may be available via the host school's video streaming package. Fans can check VMIKeydets.com's Game Day Central for that week to find the video streaming information for that contest, while for home games, Coach Woods' post-game interview and video highlights will be available on Roo-Tube on VMIKeydets.com the evening of the game.

Television: Three games are currently scheduled for broadcast - Oct. 8 at Coastal Carolina (MASN), Oct. 15 vs. Charleston Southern (ESPN3) and Nov. 5 at Liberty (Flames Sports). ESPN3 is accessible via ESPN3.com, and is the video streaming arm of the national sports network, while MASN and the Flames Sports Network may be available regionally. Check your local cable listings.

Radio: The VMI Sports Network returns this fall, bringing back its three-station broadcast based on Lexington's 96.7 3WZ. The same 96.7 station can also be heard in Lynchburg, while WLEE (990 AM) Richmond and WRIS (1410 AM) Roanoke will join the broadcast as well. As with the other methods, the game broadcast can be accessed through the Game Day Central page (users must register one time) on VMIKeydets.com, or via this link. All audio broadcasts through VMIKeydets.com are free of charge.

VMI football radio broadcasts may also be accessed on-line by going to the website of the flagship station of Keydet sports, 3WZ-Lexington, and clicking on the “listen live “ button on the left side of the page. That web address is www.wrel.com

Wade Branner '83, the "Voice of the Keydets" will call the play-by-play once again in 2011, marking his 25th season in the booth. Cal Murray '83 will be on color commentary and statistician Randy Atkins '79 will join them alongside. This will be Atkins' 35th year as the broadcast team's statistician.

Live stats: Live stats will be available for all games in the 2011 VMI football season. To access, click on the three-bar icon on the schedule portion of the main VMIKeydets.com page, or use that week's Game Day Central. Home live stats can also be accessed here.

Twitter: For the majority of games in 2011, periodic Twitter updates involving the score and, on occasion, a brief play-by-play, will be available. Check @VMISID during each contest to see any updates that have been posted.

In addition to all the above, fans are encouraged to check back for each game and see any new, exciting ways to follow your Keydets.
